Surdyk : Polish: perhaps a nickname from German Sauerteig ‘sourdough’ (from sauer ‘sour’) or Latin surdus ‘deaf’. Alternatively but less likely from Polish dialect verb surdać szurdać ‘to sulk’. The vast majority of bearers live in the Poznań and neighboring counties in Greater Poland Voivodeship.
