Origin, popularity and meaning of the name CONVEY

Origin

Convey : Irish: Anglicized form of an Irish surname with various origins: from Ó Conbhuide (‘descendant of the Yellow Hound’ see Conboy); Ó (or Mac) Connmhaigh ‘descendant (or son) of Connmhach’ a personal name meaning ‘head smasher’; or Mac Conmidhe see McNamee. Only origins with Mac and Ó can be easily distinguished in the sources while forms suhc as Conaway etc. have probably developed from an Irish pronunciation in England.
