Our consistency checker has been recently updated for greater flexibility and efficiency.
Until now, this option was available from the main menu of the site. It has been moved to your family tree pages where you will have to click “Menu” and “Inconsistencies” to access it.
Two tabs are available:
- People: This is the list of inconsistencies in your family tree such as individuals whose date of marriage is later than date of death, women whose date of death is before the date of birth of their child, etc.
- Places: This is the list of places which could not be mapped by our program.
You can click the button “View individual” to check your data and make the correction if needed.
A dropdown list allows you to sort the list by type of inconsistency or by alphabetical order of individuals.
When you have made the correction in your family tree, you can mark the inconsistency as corrected. If you are sure that it’s not an error, you can ignore the inconsistency.
Of course, you can restore an inconsistency at any time so it shows up in the list again.
Don’t wait to discover this new option!

I note the above comments: All Geneanet does is build their database and provide details back to the contributer. Surely some information on ethnicity etc, should be made available in return. Datumxy

if you have charge me more and more forget it there are other sites that are free, that is partly the reason there only 6 peole in my tree. i have better things to do to only keep paying more for or that
Answer from Geneanet: Most Geneanet members use our site for free. We understand that 25 cents a day may seem expensive. Remember, with a free account, your tree can be of unlimited size and you have 1 Gb available for your documents and photos!

I am completely lost with how to correct! Do we just delete the person when the data doesn’t make sense?
Answer from Geneanet: Our Consistency Checker shows you inconcistencies, but it’s up to every tree owner to correct those. You have several options: manually update an individual, merge two duplicates, indicating the good data to be kept… visit our forums with your questions, you will get responses. As always, Premium members can open a Ticket Contact directly.

I am new to Geneanet and am just learning to use this service.
I” find it easier to correct mistakes than on Ancestry or in Family Tree Maker where if you get on the wrong track it is difficult to edit
my tree. I am an old man and not very tech savy.
