I down loaded the software, but my user name and password are not recognized.
Answer from Geneanet: Do you mean your Geneanet access, or your computer’s password? This latter is necessary to install Geneanet Upload on modern computers. Ask your question in our forums, monitored by support.

Would be good for an option that only selected photos be uploaded. (up to a certain level of ancestor, or degree of separation from principal stream).
Answer from Geneanet: Thanks for the suggestion, we will pass this idea on to the developers!

I have same problem as Anthony Shailes. The MacOS version cannot be opened by Apple as they could not check the security of the software. This is four months later and still isn’t fixed.
Answer from Geneanet: It’s possible to install Geneanet Upload on MacOS despite the scary message. We will check again with our developers how to avoid this barrier.

Could all ancestor links by rated for confidence – researchers could then be alert for any weakness !

I didn’t realise about the copyright issues until I read other people’s comments. But I am sure that my GEDcom from Ancestry does not include my certs and photos (many of which are my own). I wish it did.

I don’t mind uploading my GEDCOM and pictures, but what is the benefit to me? If I do it do I get access to others?

My family tree with over 5500 pictures and other media items is on tribalpages.com. I worry that my pictures will all be lost when I am gone. I have put a tribalpages GEDCOM onto about six other genealogy sites but the pictures do not go with the GEDCOM. Is there someway I can get my pictures into Geneanet from tribalpages? I do have a GEDCOM version of my tree on Geneanet but would love to be able to export all of those photos onto any other genealogy site in the world. I’m afraid my life’s work will be lost. Tribalpages does not answer correspondence and never has done so.

I would love to do this – however as many of my images are from Ancestry, FindMyPast, and FamilySearch and thus copyright protected, I don’t believe I can without risk.

Only issue I see is that so many of the images in my tree were downloaded from Ancestry and therefore have copyright attached…not really the done thing to now upload them to Geneanet… A shame, as it’s another form of backup.

I have my main family tree on http://www.tribalpages.com and have maybe 5000 photos and media items on it. I make GEDCOM’s quite often but my media items are not on the GEDCOM. It would be so great if they were so I can put those items elsewhere too such as on Geneanet. There seems to be no way for me to make a GEDCOM which would include my pictures and records.
Answer from Geneanet: Hi, it is true that GEDCOM files don’t contain images or documents, just pointers – links or filepaths – to the media files. Do you have your photos on your computer as well, or only on TribalPages? If the photos are on your computer, it is indeed possible to upload them with your GEDCOM family tree file to Geneanet, using our Geneanet Upload application for Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux. Your TribalPages GEDCOM file may need to have the filepaths to photos adjusted, depending on how the filepaths appear in the file. GEDCOM is a text format, you can open it in any text editor to inspect the filepaths. Please consider posting your issue in our forums or opening a support ticket if you are a Premium member.

Can I download not only my tree but also my pictures from Heritage?
Answer from Geneanet: Hi, that’s really a question for MyHeritage support, we encourage you to ask them. If you are able to export photos from them with your tree, our Geneanet Upload application will be able to import them.

When I make a GEDCOM from my main family tree at TribalPages it does not include the images. It would be so great if I could figure out how to get those thousands of images from that tree into Geneanet and into other trees. I don’t know if I’ll ever see the day where that will occur.

Which version of GEDCOM are you supporting, 4.5 or 7.0?
Answer from Geneanet: We support GEDCOM version 5.5.1 for import and export.
