The Geneanet Family Tree Edit Form Has Been Redesigned and Improved

Posted by Jean-Yves on Mar 7, 2022

The Geneanet family tree edit form has been fully redesigned and improved to facilitate data entry and to highlight some informations.

An important change is that the footer of the edit form is now fixed so you no longer have to scroll down the entire page to validate an update, or to delete an individual, or to remove the link between members of a family, etc.

The difference between the basic and the full edit forms is now more visible.

The field “Source” is now visible for each event in the basic and the full forms. Citing sources is very important in genealogy because it provides the proof that your information is correct; we always encourage you to cite sources as much as possible.

The buttons for adding events, relationships and other information have been redesigned to be more visible.

A tooltip has been added next to some fields to provide help.

The bin (trash) icon used to delete a field or an event has been replaced by a cross icon.

The new Geneanet family tree edit form has been tested by members, and their remarks and requests have been taken into account.

We hope that all these improvements will help you to more easily and quickly enter information about individuals and families in your family tree!

From where did Geneanet get information regarding my Ancestry? & George Winter which my late sister Wendy & Anne Winter spent decades researching . which I have just checked and noticed that there are ERRORS. GEORGE WINTER, MY GREAT GREAT GRANDFATHER was NOT BORN IN CEYLON HE WAS BORN & BAPTISED IN ENGLAND

Answer from Geneanet: Geneanet is a tree platform; it seems you found an error in one of the 2 million trees online. Send a message to the tree owner, hopefully they will correct the error if documentation shows you are correct. If you are referring to an archival document at Geneanet, please post a link to it in our forums.

With the new format I cannot find my 18,000 individuals tree.In addition you are pushing to subscribe to Premium. Not everybody can afford that. Considering peoble are contributing to help Geneanet with its own family tree.

Answer from Geneanet: Please ask for help in our forums which are monitored by support. We realize that 14 cents per day may seem expensive, but Geneanet Premium is far less expensive than other tree platforms in the industry. We are not sure what you mean by Geneanet’s family tree; members build their own trees.
