A woman has revealed the horror of learning her husband is actually her first cousin after buying him a DNA test for his birthday.
In an anonymous letter to Slate’s Dear Prudence podcast, the woman explained that her world has been turned upside down by the revelation. Not only is it harming her marriage, but it also has them suspecting his mother was unfaithful to his father.
‘My husband and I grew up in the same small town. We have a two-year-old son. For a birthday present, I got both of us an ancestry kit,’ she wrote. ‘I wish to God I never came up with the idea.’
