Couples around the world are hoping that the lucky number 7, which tomorrow comes in threes, will give their relationship that little bit of extra luck. 07/07/07 has so far proven to be one of the most popular wedding dates of all-time.
The fact that the lucky day falls on a Saturday in July makes it all the more popular.
The number-one online wedding site, TheKnot.com, reports that they’ve had inquiries from over 38,000 couples seeking out 07/07/07 as their wedding date. That is three times the normal number for a regular Saturday in July.
“That concentration will make it the single largest wedding day in American history,” said Carley Roney, founder and editor of TheKnot.com.
Hotel reception rooms, restaurants, photographers, stylists, caterers, and limo rental services have been booked now for months, and in some cases, even years. Those hoping to tie the knot last minute on 07/07/07 are finding it very difficult to proceed.
Los Angeles alone is expecting at least 2,000 couples to be wed tomorrow, and even Las Vegas is expecting significantly larger numbers of couples getting hitched on that date.
Las Vegas’ famous “Little White Chapel” is expecting about 400 quickie weddings on 07/07/07, which is about four times the number of couples for this time of the year. That means it will be an even more popular date than Valentine’s Day, which sees about 300 couples wed.
Even the celebrities aren’t immune from the 07/07/07 wedding fever. Desperate Housewives’ Eva Longoria and her NBA basketball player fiance Tony Parker are getting married, and chef Wolfgang Puck will marry his long-time partner, Gelila Assefa, on the Italian island of Capri.
07/07/07 is also expected to be a popular date for gambling and even marriage proposals.
