Page takedown request

Post by seawolf409 »

Can someone with the power to takedown pages please contact me or give me contact details so that I can contact them. I'm not impressed that I have to create an account in order to do this!

Hi Jean-Yves,
Thank you for the quick response. This is a copyright problem. There are a lot of pages associated with (for instance)
https://gw.geneanet.org/rhiang?lang=en&p=anne&n=rocke
all of which contain my copyright data - they have even included my copyright symbol !
I've no idea what they think copyright means !
My conditions of use page:
https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/YRY/conditions
says among other things:
"...........but neither do I expect the material on the Genuki site to be copied to other web sites in order to enhance them. In my eyes (and under the law) copying is theft - my work is being taken without my permission and used in order to save someone time and money in order to make their own web-site look better. Please do not do this! If copied material is found, action will eventually be taken against the culprit - this may be legal action, you may be invoiced for the use of the material or simply requested to remove it. There is no legal limit on the amount that the invoice may be for and unpaid invoices will be pursued through the small claims court (which has a limit of around 10,000 pounds)."

Good luck !
Best wishes,
Colin Hinson

Dear Sir,

Geneanet is a web hosting service for genealogy, not a family tree editor.

You must contact this member and ask her to remove the notes she has copied from your pages: https://en.geneanet.org/profil/rhiang

Please tell us if she does not answer within a reasonable time and we will contact her.
Best wishes,

Hi,
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the owner of the website ie. geneanet, is responsible for the data on the site and is therefore the person who should be policing the site. When told of copyright transgressions it is up to them to fix the problems and not the person whose copyright data is being stolen, regardless of who put the data there.

Is this correct? If so, it is up to you to fix the problems and not me.
I do of course have the option of putting in a request to have the whole site taken down - I'm sure you don't want this.

Regards,
Colin Hinson.

It seems you're not going to answer my last message, so here's another problem:
https://en.geneanet.org/fonds/bibliotheque/?go=1&lang=en&nom=hinson&page=89&size=50

on that page, there is a reference to my name and transcription but I can't get at it as it requires higher priveledges. Please sort this one out and any others that are there.
