death of member

Post by drobson »

Hi I'm not yet a premium member but I appear in someone else's family tree who is or rather was. That's the problem, I asked to match tree's but I've since learned that she's died.
Firstly, what happens to all the information in her tree? I'd like to be abler to still access it as it's also mine.
Secondly, as I can't match what happens next? I'm not able to contact other family members as I don't have any details.
I'm at a loss as to what to do?
thanks

Hi Donna,

Hope this helps.
You can always try this if you can not get access to other family members.
Go to the other tree where you appear.
As an example let's presume you want al the ancestors of Donna Mae Robson.
Go to the profile of Donna Mae.
In the menu on the right click"MORE"\ set as family root.
Then again on the right click "PRINT"\Ancestry\ Charts & Lists. There you have more options you can try.
Click on "TABLE". Mark all "Contents" you want.
Select "Generation"\ UP to the 7th in this case.
Then "Submit".
You then get a table you can use . You can even download it as PDF and print it to help you.

Hi Donna,

That depends on what the owner has decided.
Here https://en.geneanet.org/profile/genealogical/testimony you can choose what will happen with you tree after you die.
Please don't.
Many users never even go to this configuration page.

You can even leave a message to a relative if you want him/her to act in your name.

I don't know if it's possible, but you could ask a moderator here on the forum to look into the account of the tree owner you are talking about to see if the tree will disappear. If the person has died some time ago I presume the tree will not disappear.

Greetz,

Edward

We never delete family trees until the family of a deceased member ask us to do it or if it's clearly said in their Geneanet will.

You can only view the public data given in the family tree of a deceased member.
