French Ancesters

Post by schmoo »

Hi All
I have come to a full stop on my tree on both sides of my family.  :'(  On my mothers side I have found a mother born c1789 and daughter born c1826 came to England from a place called Nance, Jura, Franche-Comte. Their names are Josephine L'aigle Duparre and Lucie Mary or Marie L'aigle Duparre. They are on a the English census in Plymouth. The daughter married an Englishman and from the certificate her father is named as Victor L'aigle Duparre. I don't know what happened to Victor or anything else about their lives in France.

On my fathers side I have found Peter Leblanc, born c1789 from Guadeloupe in the West Indies.  He married an English woman in 1806 but I can find no record of him landing in the UK or life before then.

I would be very grateful for any help or suggestions from fellow genealogists  ;D

Hi Suzanne

No chance. I think Jura will be the last french place to put registers on line. You can ask your question here

or contact http://www.cegfc.org/www/index.php3
Cordialement
