Grandfather's name

Post 29 January 2019, 15:38

I wonder if anyone can shed light on the meaning/origin of my Grandfather's middle name. It is listed on this site as Beauclere and I have seen a spelling of Beauclerque. My Uncle's middle name is spelled Beauclerc. Any light ,"clere" or otherwise, that you could shed on this would be welcome.

Is this link helpful?

Indeed it is. Thank you very much. I didn't think to look at the spelling ending in "k" because I was trying to follow the "clere" variant.
Best regards,
