DNA and Genealogy

I had the full sequence mtDNA test done.  While the result was interesting, it was of no help in finding my great great grandmother who was said to be Native American, even though the test can detect the percentage  of heritage back that far.  I understand that DNA can prove but cannot disprove a heritage 

I believe that in order for DNA to be a meaningful tool in genealogy research, much more research is needed and everyone needs to participate.
