Not my family tree

I wished to find the detailed references to support a tree on Geneanet. The only reference provided was to the Ancestry.com site. When I contacted the tree owner (I was able to find her as an Ancestry.com member.), she disavowed knowledge of the tree. Was an error made somewhere? How can I learn more about the tree and supporting information?

Trying to understand. You found some information on Geneanet that referenced an Ancestry tree as the source. Then you contacted the Ancestry tree's owner. Since anyone could have copied information from her tree into Geneanet, it's not unreasonable to believe that she wouldn't know about the copy.
