FREE membership just not worth the hassle of joining. I do reviews of Genealogy site ... especially supposedly FREE ones. This site gets an "F" as there are far too many limitation on the free membership. I will be blogging about your rating on all the genealogical sites I am on ... for example, FamilySearch forum, numerous genealogical groups on Facebook, etc.

Why should I have my tree even available for everyone else to use, when I cannot even view theirs nor their related documentation???
Your so-called "FREE" membership is a limiting as Ancestry. You are as big of rip-off as ANCESTRY.COM.

You can see all of the public family trees with a FREE account on GeneaNet. Tell me which family tree you can't see.

Oh I can see the tree ... somewhat useless unless you are also able to see the documentation. Not one single reference or source was allowed without the pop-up alerting you that it is ONLY "Reserved for Club Privilege Members"

Another point reason for such a low rating (F), is that it in reality is a commercial site deceptively using the (dot) ORG as a suffix. If you are going to use the .org suffix it should be a free site.

The main thing i blog about are useless "FREE" hoax-type memberships.  Here is the blog I just posted on the forums I am on:

“I have been checking out more sites on which to report. One is Geneanet.org. It is my opinion that the site deserves a “F” rating, due to a number of things. It is not the easiest site to navigate. They allow you to put PART of your tree there. They are not 100% Gedcom compatible; eg. type REPO not implemented, so all source repositories were lost.  Also, since I had a few errors in part of the families, Rather than providing the tools for correcting the problem, whole family lines were just deleted on import. Like Ancestry.com, they encourage you to put your tree there so it appears they have more active members and more available information than they really do. They have deceptive site name (dot) ORG, indicating a non-commercial free site. Not even Ancestry.COM is this deceptive. As a free member, about the only thing you can do is put a limited tree ONLY without any access to your documentation.”

Also, users in the US have become somewhat disgusted with the "privileged" few ... the 5% who flaunt it over those with less. So the name of your club is disgusting to them and really needs changing.

Users do not really mind an ad-based free site, with the site totally free to all users. You can still make money off advertisers. You have the makings of what COULD BE a very popular site. I really hope you improve your open-access to the public ... or stop calling it "FREE."

Another thing is the books on here. Every time I try to view a page, it says something about subscribing to the website. The book I am trying to view is from either the 1800's-early 1900's.

My whole point exactly. They have a good PAID site but ONLY PAID members like it. It is rated so high by PAID members, not us poor seniors on disability.

The .ORG website suffix is deceptive advertising denoting a free site, yet free members can access NOTHING!

If they had at least 80% of the site free ... so it was at least USABLE TO FREE MEMBERS, it would have twice the current membership due to the free advertising of BOTH PAID AND FREE MEMBERS.
