Researching my family history and have come to a stop. My great grandmother Hannah come to Australia from either France or New Caledonia and gave birth to my Grandmother in 1906 at Paddington, Sydney, NSW, Australia at the age of 37. Hannah must have given her daughter my grandmother away at the age of 4 to 6 to be raised by the Collins family. After this I do not know what happened to my great grandmother Hannah, I have searched high and low with no results. On my nans birth certificate Hannah says she was 37 years old and was from Nantes France, she named my grandmother Mary Tornezy. I did find a shipping record of a Miss Bridon arriving in Australia 13th January 1906 from France to Noumea and then onto Australia but cannot be certain this is her. I do not know if she remained in Australia or returned to France. I would appreciate any help in my research. Regards Diane my email address is: [email protected]

good morning,
few informations: there are are several clues to follow:
AA. Coming from France through New Caledonia?
When looking at the archives of new Caledonia, there are no documents on line.
I don't know if they have a passengers' list during the 1900's.

BB. Coming from France?
Nantes ? It could be the port of embarkation.
Maybe you could try to post your query on the French geneanet (change langage below left) for the department of Nantes (Loire Atlantique n°44), asking for passengers list.
https://www.geneanet.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=60372
Please use short sentences, so the translation with google translate is not too silly.
But, but, It's too early to look for a passenger's list, as the name is uncertain, the date unknown.... It could be useless to waste the goodwill of geneanet members.....
CC. The name TORNEZY (and often TOURNEZY) does not come from the Atlantic coast (where Nantes is located) but rather from the Mediterranean coast (Between Marseille and Montpellier).
There is a geneanet member oriented to the TORNEZY family history.
Maybe you could interest him, but submitting your enigma? (hoping your ancestor is not on the dark-side of his family...)

(when you are on his contact page, click on "CONTACT" located right of his name.

Once again, short sentences + google translate.
Sorry not to be more positive today.
regards

PS. Hannah is not French, rather Anne.
