Schreiber - Baden-Wuttermberg

Hello,

I am looking for records on my great-great-grandfather Frank Schreiber.
He was born between 1853-1855 in Baden-Wuttermberg.
He married Barbara Christel (daughter of Michael Christel and Maria Burger), I think that they also lived in Baden-Wutternmberg but maybe Bavaria.
They had at least one child in Germany, Louise/Louisa around 1879.
They emmigrated to the United States aboard the Eider in 1886/87.

I have been unable to locate any birth, marriage or family records for Frank Schreiber.

Thank you.

Hi,

if you give us more info about his life in the States, that would help [often you have to go backward from USA to Germany].

The name Frank Schreiber is very common here, so, even what State he lived in will help a lot.

did they come 24 Apr 1886 ?

was he in Erie County, New York ?

Barbara died shortly after the death of daughter Mary Oct 1891, and Franz remarried Amelia [?Ringizer] ?

Hi, yes that is correct although I have been unable to find any records about Barbara's death.

Frank/Franz remarried Amelia Ringeisen (no record of the marriage) and they had a son in June of 1893 (Frank J Schreiber). I have been able to find a baptism record for Frank J.

Thank you,

and daughter Amelia in Jun 1898.

could not find death of Barbara or re-marriage.

If Franz was born in Jan 1855, that could help finding his birth.

Was he Catholic ?

the closest I found so far:

Germany, Baden, Archdiocese of Freiburg im Breisgau, Catholic Church Records
Carl Franz Schreiber
Event Type Baptism
Event Date 28 Jan 1853
Event Place Neustadt, Baden, Deutschland
Father's Name Joseph Schreiber
Mother's Name Maria Pfeff

and

Franz Josef Schreiber
Event Type Baptism
Event Place Villingen, Baden, Deutschland
Event Place Villingen (A. Villingen), Baden, Deutschland
Birth Date 20 Jan 1852
Mother's Name Valentina Schreiber
Certificate Number 9

Now that I know this is the correct one, I will look further.

Hi,

On the birth year, his grave stone says 1853 but sometimes in the New York State or US census his birth year is 1855 (sometimes it is 1853).
One census has him being born in January. Not sure of the date.

He and Barbara had a daughter in Germany in 1879, Louise/Louisa. She emmigrated with them.

Where did you find all of this?

Thank you

do you have that ?

Franz Schreiber was in Buffalo. Maybe Barbara died in Buffalo.

It looks like his father in law remarried, or his wife was Maria Margaretha

1892 Buffalo Ward 18 E.D. 05; Erie , New York, State Census,
John Edwards 31 1861 US St. R R C
Anna Edwards 30 1862 US
Lina Edwards 11 1881 US
Eugene H Edwards 8 1884 US
Mary Schreiber 1 1891 US [as 7y]
-----------------
Henry Thomas 39 1853 Germany Citizen carpenter
Emilia Thomas 35 1857 Germany Citizen
Lydia Thomas 2 1890 US
-----------------
Frank Schreiber 39 1853 Germany Citizen painter
Louisa Schreiber 13 1879 Germany
Simon Schreiber 4 1888 US
Mike Christel 62 1830 Germany alien laborer
Margaretha Christel 60 1832 Germany

I see now that you have info from findagrave, and that I suppose ?

New York, Death Index, 1852-1956
Frank Schreiber
Death Date: 12 Feb 1930
Death Place: Lancaster, New York, USA
Certificate Number: 10600

with the # , you can obtain a copy. Should have date of birth.

I got most info from the census.
From ancestry [$], but the mormons should have most of that for free.
I prefer ancestry: their search is much better.

did Amelia (Jun 1867) died 1910-1915 ?
------------------------------------
1915 census Lancaster:
Frank Schrieber 1854, son Frank 1894 + 2 servants & a farm laborer

this image has a lot of errors: Frank is son as Female
makes me wonder about the servant Louise Lippert b 1881 US: [+ Marion A Lippert b 1911] - could that be daughter Louise b 1879 Germany ?
------------------------------------
1920 census Lancaster:
Frank Schrieber 1854 Bavaria, is married with Louise____ b 1871 NY/pts Germany
+ son Frank 1894
------------------------------------
1925 census Lancaster: Frank + spouse Louise

Yes I have found these census records as well and I am still trying to make sense of them.

I am unable to find any information on Frank/Franz or Barbara from Germany.

The two possibilities that you listed appear to have died in infancy shortly after their baptisms (Carl Franz and Franz Josef).

I was hoping that I could find a birth record for Louise/Louisa in Germany that would then help me find more information on Frank/Franz and Barbara if I could not find any information on them.
