marriage

Post by blinnc »

I have a male on one brach of my tree and a female on another branch of my tree. A source tells me that they are married to each other. How do I link these two without creating a duplicate? I askes this before but I cannot find the reply.

Go to one of these persons, click "Add spouse", enter the name of the spouse as it is in your family tree, the program will tell you that there's already a person with this name and will propose you to add a new one or to link to the existing one: just link to the existing one.

When I "link" a suggested individual to my tree I often get a duplicate.
https://gw.geneanet.org/blinnc_w?lang=en&n=leblanc&nz=blinn&oc=0&p=etienne&pz=charles+augustin&type=tree
I am not able to merge because program says they are the same person and deleting leaves a trace behind (I mean the dialog "box"). I was told in an earlier post that I can't get rid of it. Thank you.

Perhaps you could suggest a help file on this very topic of " link", merge and delete.
