Re : Migrant farmer in the mid 1700's in France
Hi Dawn! It has been just over two years since your last reply on here and I apologize for not replying sooner. Since 2013, I have been looking at Pimont (and associated spellings) in Correze as well as around St. Antoine. There are Pimonts in Roen as well and some Guillaume Pimonts which fit well...

Re : Pimont/Pimond family research in Correze, and England
Trying to determine if the Pyemont/e family in England and the Pimond/Pimont are the same. Please e-mail me at chp_hays@yahoo.com if you have an interest! I have y-DNA results for myself and two others. It would be most interesting if we have a French Pimond/Pimont do the test and/or a British Pye...

Re : Migrant farmer in the mid 1700's in France
"Unfortunately, Isere seems do not have this kind of searching help. And in France, before the Revolution (1792) you have to read the documents from church, and most part of the time you have to read all the pages in each record. For the period you're looking for, you'll probably have to read e...

Re : Migrant farmer in the mid 1700's in France
Thanks Dawn for the ideas, "N.B : Just an idea, but maybe... Maybe Pimond was the French name changed as Pigman in England, easier to pronunce... Because if I tried to pronunce Pimond with en English accent, you're not so far from Pigman." Yes, I think this is probably correct as far as th...

Re : Migrant farmer in the mid 1700's in France
Hello Dawn, Thank you for your reply! I had seen the first entries that you sent and the spelling Piggeman could be the line of my ancestry as William and George's names were always spelled different ways. I have looked at most of the original records of Old Hunstanton and Norwich in Norfolk. Will...

Re : Migrant farmer in the mid 1700's in France
finding these records will be incredibly hard unfortunately.. Not necessary if you have any information about the place. Then to find the birthplace you should have this information in some other document : wedding and death documents. Also, if your ancestors moved from the US, I think that you sho...

Re : DNA for R1b
I agree with ghurlbut . ysearch.org is a good place to start but with R1b it has been described more of a very full bush rather than a tree. In my case I have at this point tested to 67 markers and deep clade testing including U152/L2/Z49+ and negative for196 and L20 and I just ordered Z142 today. ...

Re : Migrant farmer in the mid 1700's in France
I am researching my French ancestors in the mid 1600's as well. They are connected to their home place in Correze in several documents.
I have found out that most of my ancestors at that time were called labourers. That means to plough, to furrow, to churn up, or to dig into.
