Current projects
Save our Graves
Cemeteries are one of the most important resources for genealogists, and we must capture and index graves before they are lost. Join our project and take pictures of graves around your place.
Now and Then
View, photograph and superimpose old photos and present day scenes of your favorite places!
The New York City Geographic Birth Index
The goal of this project is to index the half a million cards of the New York City Geographic Birth Index. Indexing is done online with our Collaborative Indexing module.
Death announcement and In memoriam card
In memoriam cards are very useful for the genealogy research. They are printed as a commemoration for certain events, and they are most associated with a death and funeral. They often contain the date of death and the names of family members.
US Navy Muster Rolls
In the latter part of the 19th century, every US Navy ship had a register listing every sailor of the crew. Many crewmen on the American ships were of foreign origin; up to a third were British or Irish! Researching sailors is often challenging; these previously unindexed registers will no doubt break brick walls on both sides of the Atlantic.
Participate in the General Slocum Disaster Collaborative Tree!
Were your ancestors aboard the PS General Slocum which burned in New York's East River in 1904? Find them in our tree of passengers and their families.
Commemorative plaques and monuments
Number of commemorative plaques and monuments pay tribute to famous people who were born or who lived in a place, or to soldiers killed in action, for example. The goal of this project is to index them.
Project King's Daughters (French: Filles du roy)
