Cemeteries are one of the most important resources for genealogists, and we must capture headstones before they are lost.

I believe that pictures of gravestones are important… Whet I don’t like is the lack of cooperation between all the Groups, Organizations that won’t combine efforts and have their volunteer photographers copyright the pics. So each group has their volunteers take pictures of graves that are already on other websites. I for one do not like taking my time to get a picture for one group when it already exists online for another. This does not benefit the average genealogist.
How long are gravestones kept at cemeteries in the Netherlands and Belgium? I lived in Utrecht, Netherlands from 1937 till 1947. Graves were rented for 10 to 20 years. I do not know what happened to the gravestones after that time. What period of time were graves kept in tacked or preserved. Thanks. Al Slabbaert.
I have thousands of photos of headstones in .jpg format but I do not have a mobile phone.
Is there any way to upload this pictures?
Best regards Jožek Košir
How can you tell if the local cemetery has had the pictures taken or not?
@Jozek: You can send zipped files to firstname.lastname@example.org through http://www.wetransfer.com or any other free service. Please send one file by cemetery with the name of the cemetery and the name of the town.
I have many photos of graves from the local cemetery on my computer. Is there a way to start a new cemetery project and upload these files?
