Genevieve Austin’s engraved grave stone has been sitting on her future cemetery plot in Chestnut Ridge Cemetery for the last 6 years. She bought and placed the stone so that her own children would not have to deal with those kinds of arrangements for her when the time comes. The stone, along with the piece of mind for everyone, is now gone.
Her son, Dale Resinger, is shocked and confused as to why anybody would steal someone else’s grave stone. “It’s just unbelieveable that somebody would desecrate a graveyard. I don’t know if there’s a demand fro granite or not. I mean I can’t understand what they could use it for. It’s got her name on it. It would take quite a bit to take the words off of it.”
