India: Rare Books at St Bede’s Archives

Apart from being a landmark institution for providing higher education to girls, the St. Bede’s College in Shimla holds the distinction of having a treasure trove in form of archives which is a collection of ancient books, journals and photographs stored since 1904, when the institution was established.

College principal Sister Molly Abraham said, “it is really a matter of pride to head such an institution which is heritage in itself and to maintain an archive that is unique in itself as no other institution has such heritage in the city. With times things get lost, we do not want to lose upon any detail of the institution. It is an attempt to keep history alive for the coming generations.”
