The service, which is run by Suffolk County Council and has centres in Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds and Lowestoft, is home to archives covering the history of Suffolk and its people. The council has recently spent £400,000 upgrading safety measures in the record offices to protect the documents and information in case of fire, flooding or theft. The four-star rating puts the county’s service in the top 10 in the country.
