Import gedcom

Post by chag »

Hello, my username is chag.
I have several trees in Geneanet that I would like to transfer into my own tree so I can see if some of the people listed in those trees have a family connection with the people listed in my tree.
I know you have to create a Gedcom but, I am so hopeless in IT.  I do not understand the explanations given.  I need to have a step by step message which will have to be very detailed.
Can you help me?

To export a Geneanet family tree to a GEDCOM file, please go to http://my.geneanet.org/arbre/save.php?view=save

To import a GEDCOM file to your Geneanet family tree, please go to http://my.geneanet.org/arbre/. Note you must select the "Add Data" option if you want to add the information contained in the GEDCOM file to you actual family tree.
Best wishes,

In March, I asked you to give me step by step instructions to send a gedcom file to my family tree.  You sent me links to do the job.  I tried and have now lost my whole family tree.  I read somewhere that as a premium member my tree was preserved.  Can you please return my tree as it was and delete the few names that are there at the moment.  Then could you tell me how to do a gedcom (which I thought I knew how to do) and then how to transfer it to my family tree.
As previously mentionned I am hopeles in IT and need step by step instructions.
Thank you for your help.

To restore an earlier version of your Geneanet family tree, please go to: http://my.geneanet.org/arbre/save.php?view=restore (this is a Premium option).

To export a GEDCOM file from Legacy Family Tree, we suggest that you read the help pages of the software. There's an online help center at http://support.legacyfamilytree.com/ and it can also help.

To import your GEDCOM file to your Geneanet account, please go to http://my.geneanet.org/arbre/, select your GEDCOM file on your hard drive then simply click "SEND".
